Fair Fun!

This week is the Payne County Fair, and luckily it is on our way home from Daycare. Today when I arrived to pick the girls up, Emma said see lambies and piggys! She remembered Scott telling her yesterday that they would be up there tonight! They were not disappointed. As we walked up there was a donkey, and the girls had a good time saying HEEHAW! Then they visited the sheep. Elle pet a lamb, but it surprised her when it said BAA! It was so funny she jumped every time! Emma was a bit more interested in the pigs, they were not as loud....today. When we got home, pops was here and asking the girls about the Fair. They both listed all of the animals that they saw! They said Piggys, Lambies, Goats, and a Donkey! Impressive!

First Day of School Again!

The girls started a new school today. It was great! They did not cry or beg me to stay, which helped a lot. They are now going to Creation Station, which is within 2 miles of the house. Their good friend Madisyn is in their class. Today they studied the letter A..tomorrow is B, can you see a pattern? The Monday after Labor Day they start Dance class. Hopefully, Elle's ballet shoes will not be worn out by then (she loves to be a ballerina)! Their great first day of school was followed by a pit stop to see Daddy! He is at the Payne County Fair all week. He does get to sleep at home, but that is about it. Elle and Emma went to see the goats tonight. Elle was really interested, and Emma not so much. That was kind of surprising since Emma is my animal lover.

My Little Ballerina

The girls are trying out dance classes the Monday after Labor Day. They will be taking Ballet for sure, so they needed some ballet shoes. On Wednesday, we went to Payless and took advantage of the BOGO sale (Buy one get one 1/2 price). Someone in the Payless Marketing Department has to have twins-- to think of this great marketing! Payless is Elle's favorite store, she is a shoe fiend! The girls were so excited to get their new shoes, they wore them to bed! They were so cute doing little pirouettes when we got home. Today, Gram brought over tutus that she made and the girls put on their ballet shoes and were ballerinas. Elle was the only one that would pose for a picture.

Dancing Queens!

Dancing has become a new favorite pastime at out house. Emma is my resident expert, and Elle is more into singing, but she tries. Emma really has some moves, and Logan says "Elle dances like a white girl". I really want to get them into a dance class, and I am pretty sure I am going to switch daycare so they can take dance classes in the afternoon. Here is a short video. It is not Emma's best work, but it will give you a taste. P.S. Their favorite dancing song is Loveshack. Their favorite riding in the car song is Country Roads.

First Day of School

The girls had their first day of school yesterday. This is a picture of them eating their Dora cereal. I think I had a harder time with it than they did. Emma got upset one time, but sister Elle quickly came over and gave her a hug and a kiss and things were better. I don't know why it was so hard to send them to school this year, but I think it might be because we had such a great time this summer. I really enjoy the girls being able to communicate their wants to me; it is so much better than the guessing game we did when they were little. Oh well, I hope things continue to go well for them at school, it will make my day go faster and will help me be extremely productive so I can pick them up as soon as possible!

The Girlies and Pops!

The girls are sure happy to have their gram and pops close. Pops has a pretty good time with them. They take trips around Boomer Lake with Scout and "no mommy daddy". They also get chased by witch pops when he says "I'll get you my little pretty". Scout tries to stick up for the girls, but he is all bark and no bite. He has also brainwashed them into saying "Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU!" they really get into it. We don't really care, it just looks a little odd when they are in their OSU Cheerleader outfits.

Go Pokes

We were looking for some free fun on Saturday, and the OSU Open Football Practice was just what we were looking for. It gave Scott the opportunity to go in the not yet finished stadium renovation and the girls an opportunity to watch some football without paying $40+ dollars for each of their seats. I have a few students working on the Boone Pickens Stadium Project, so I have been able to walk through on occasion. Also, my building is right next to the stadium, so I get to see daily progress.

The girls had a great time, while it lasted! We were able to watch about 30 minutes of practice before it started raining. Gram and Pops met us there, and they got to watch about 5 minutes of the scrimmage. Elle was pretty into the game she told me she wanted to watch. Emma just wanted to visit the bathroom, she went 2 times and asked to go a third. The real fun actually started on the way to the car. We really did not park very far away, but the construction fencing extended the walk. They change the fencing daily, so I can never predict the best place to park. It started raining as my mom and I exited the stadium with the girls. We definitely got wet on the trip to the car. The best part was when we came out of a building and Emma said "that's where mommy works" pointing at Cordell.

Elle and Emma -- Summer 2008

This is pretty neat. We had the perfect situation this summer. We had a Pre-K teacher stay with the girls while I was teaching summer school. It was wonderful because the girls were able to sleep in and I did too, since I did not have to get them ready. Miss Autumn stayed half days in June and all day in July, Monday-Thursday. She is used to working with 4 year-olds, and I thought that was great, maybe the girls could perfect their colors! They are doing great with their colors and miss Miss Autumn. We ate lunch with her on Friday, and she gave me this video of pictures that she took over the course of the summer. We are hoping she has a great school year and wants to come back next summer!

Playing in Gram and Pops Sprinklers

We had a great time last night watching the girls run around in the sprinklers at Gram and Pops' new house. Emma came outside and noticed that they were on, and I asked her if she wanted to run through them. She was excited. I stripped her down to her skivvies and she went nuts. Elle joined in too! It was great! It is important to note that this did not take place at our house, because the only sprinklers we have are for the aerobic septic system...Yuck! This will be and Gram and Pops exclusive event! Sorry the video is dark, it was getting late.

Summer Fun...

The girls and I are spending our last week at home and really enjoying it! We made cinnamon rolls this morning, and while I was cleaning up the girls got really quiet. They would run in the Kitchen every once in a while and show me a stuffed animal that I had not seen on a long time. I decided to look into it more and walked out into the living room and saw the pile of stuffed animals. I asked what they were doing and they told me that they were going to sleep on them. I told them we could keep the mess as long as I could get pictures!

Storm Shelter....Finally

We have been kicking around getting a storm shelter for over a year. We finally decided that we wanted one that is in the garage floor and we got it installed Monday. The girls were a very captivated audience, offering installation suggestions at times. They cut the slab, excavated the soil, set the shelter, and put concrete around the outside. When they were leveling it in the hole Joe, one of the installers hit the top of the shelter to try to level it, and Emma said "DON'T BANG IT!" He only did it once, thank goodness, she would have come unglued! He assured her he would not do it again. He also gave the girls rides on the excavator. I attached some pictures of the shelter and the girls ride.

Zoo Day!

On Friday we went to the zoo. We had to wake the girls up early to beat the heat, and they were a bit cranky at first....But they remembered quickly that we were on our way to the OKC Zoo. Logan's friend Katy gave us some free passes since she works there, so it was an even better trip! The girls were fascinated with the Zebras and the Gorillas (they put on quite a show). They rode in the stroller most of the time, and were not scared. But, they wanted to walk, and we let them for a while, and Emma thought everything was going to get her! I took some neat pictures of animals, and the girls posed on the tiger. The girls spent the rest of the weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Mickey's house so Scott and I could have a weekend together before the rush of the fall sets in.
