Sooners Eat Worms!

Logan was over Tuesday evening and having an intelligent conversation with Elle. The topic of conversation was Amber, and Logan was clarifying Amber's loyalties. Needless to say, Elle was not happy to find out her Amber is a Sooner!

I have been trying to upload this video to the blog for 3 days with absolutely no luck! So I had to put on my genius hat and come up with another way, and with a bit of Halloween Magic...Walla! Here it is...finally! You just have to click the You Tube Link below.

Downtown Halloween Festival

Tuesday Night we went the the downtown Halloween festival. The ladybugs enjoyed seeing all of the other costumes. My favorites were a nun costume on an 18 month old girl, and some really cute scarecrows. There were lots of games, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest. We did not have the patience for the contest, and besides the girls were enjoying speding time with Dylan and Ryan.

We met up with the boys in time to get some cute pictures! Ever seen a ladybug and a roaring dinosaur??
What about a ladybug squeezing a duck's bill? The last picture is of the entire group. The just love being together! They can't wait to have another Halloween Party together on Wednesday! After we left this pumpkin picture, Dylan took Elle's hand and they walked together for a few blocks!

Grandma and Grandpa Great's Visit

My Grandma and Grandpa Herr came down to visit this weekend accompanied by my Aunt Janet. The girls were really excited to see them. I tried to explain that they were Pops' mom, dad and sister before we got there, and Pops tried to clarify too. Elle really took to grandma, and they cuddled a lot under the blanket to keep warm. Grandpa won Emma over with candy corn. Two pieces of candy corn and he had a new friend. She sat on his lap a long time, and Saturday she gave him a five minute hug! It was so cute! On Saturday night, we were driving home and Elle asked me if I had two dads. It took me a minute, and I realized she was ready to understand who those extra family member were at Gram and Pops'. I explained again that they were Pops' mom and dad. She got it, and then asked who was grandma's friend, referring to Aunt Janet. I explained that she was Pops' sister. She wondered if Pops was nice to his sister. I told her she would have to ask Aunt Janet. She also asked where Grams mom and dad were, and I tried to explain that one too. Emma was asleep for the LONG family tree explanation.

Paci Fairy

Well we have had a visit from the Paci Fairy. She actually came last Sunday, but I waited to post this to see how the pacifier free week went. About two weeks ago, Emma and I were discussing giving all of the pacis to new little babies who needed them, and she was immediately on board. She gave up her paci that night, and has never asked for it again. I thought of it as a bit of practice. We talked about collecting up all of the pacis and putting them out for the Paci Fairy, and the Paci Fairy leaving a toy in return. We tried to get buy-in from Elle, but she was not near as interested. On Sunday Emma and I started loading up all of her pacis into a brown bag, and Elle started throwing hers in too. So, a bit skeptical, since she was so resistant, I made her a bag too. She collected all of hers up too. We even checked under their beds, to make sure we got them all. Elle made sure to remind me that her favorite pink paci was to be given to Dylan and Ryan's soon to be baby brother Aydan. She actually still talks about that. I'm sure Aydan's dad JD is going to love the gift of a pink paci! Below is the girls with their bag of pacis!

We took the bags outside to the front porch for the Paci Fairy. We thought this would make it easy for her to pick them up. Emma hid hers behind the pumpkin! I was a bit scared it might stump the Paci Fairy.

The Paci Fairy left each of the girls a Dora Doll. The girls absolutely love them! And they have both been paci free at our house for a week. Elle did sucker Gram into giving her a paci for a few minutes at her house when she was upset. Elle has not admitted it to me, but Gram did. Oh well, I guess the Paci Fairy will have to make a stop there too! Elle does love toys!

Fun at the Park with Ryan and Dylan

After the parade on Saturday we met Ryan and Dylan at the park to play. The girls are always wanting to play with them, so this was a real hit! They played for a while and then turned to eating cupcakes. They were successful at getting really messy.
The picture of Emma was after she had cleaned her face!

After eating, Dylan trained Elle to be his Entomology Assistant. He was on the lookout for white fuzzy caterpillars. He found 4 in a matter of minutes.

Homecoming Parade

We went to the Homecoming Parade on Saturday with Gram and Pops. The girls had a great time! The Grand Marshall of the parade this year was no other than Pistol Pete! The theme was Generation Cowboy, and the celebration centered around Pistol Pete's 50th year Anniversary. Pete was followed by the OSU Marching Band and......
Here comes Bullet!
This was my favorite float! Its a Pete in a Box! The head moved up and down out of the top of the box!
Elle's favorite part of the parade was seeing Elmo! She ran out into the street to hug him. After he walked by, Emma said she wanted a hug too!
Good thing Clifford came a few minutes later, and Emma was able to get a hug too! Overall the girls had a great time!

Walk Around

Friday was Homecoming Walk Around, and if you have never seen it, I'm sure my pictures will not do it justice. I had intended on getting there really early, but I was held up in a meeting and was not able to leave work early enough to avoid the big rush! Logan took this first picture of the girls before we ever made it to the house decorations. I think we arrived about 5:45 and they had no clue what was going on.

The pictures of the house decorations that I have are not in any particular order, they were just the first ones we came to, and were therefore easier to photograph as you will see later. The first two are of the FIJI house dec. The entire thing is made out of chicken wire and tissue called pomping. They get points for moving parts and the overall design.

The one below is of the Kappa Sigma house. They actually were not done when we walked by. I don't know if the ever finished in time. I liked the picture of Pistol Pete and the little boy.

At the Sigma Alpha Epsilon House they were playing the girlie's favorite song while we were walking up, Take Me Home Country Roads. They girls were really impressed. It was my favorite one, and had it been working, it would have been amazing. The background was supposed to turn like the billboard signs. It had a morning, afternoon, and evening sky. It would have been even better had it worked!

This next one was Elle's favorite. It is a pirate theme. She talked about that Pirate Pistol Pete for quite a while after we had seen the Phi Kappa Tau House Dec. We even drove by some of the House Decs on Saturday after leaving Logan's House, and she kept asking to see the Pirate one again! She even described it, talking about Pirate Pete and the Pirate Ship! On our way to the requested house dec, she saw the SAE's above and she started singing take me home country roads! It was pretty funny.

These last couple of pictures explain why the photos ended. It started getting so crowded it was difficult to see the decorations, let alone get a picture! Scott told me he heard on the radio there were over 40,000 people at walk around. It was getting hard to walk around right before we left.

Arr! Oompa Loompa Dippidy Doo!

Elle was really digging the costumes at the Harvest Carnival. She said "Arr!" and got her picture taken with the Pirates! She also sang "Oompa Loompa dippidy doo!" to the Oompa Loompa. It was so funny. Emma was still getting over being traumatized the the maze! Oh well! We hope to get awesome Homecoming House Decoration Pictures up this weekend. Friday is Walk-around and Saturday is the Homecoming Parade!

Hello Pistol Pete!

Well meeting Pistol Pete has been on the list of things to do with the girls. Finally, on Tuesday they had the opportunity. Elle was not scared and immediately went up to him (why not she had her picture taken with pirates and oompa loompas earlier that evening)! Emma took a while to warm up. But, they followed Pete around for a while because they were so intrigued! I'm sure they were wondering how his head got so big! Once I got him to stop, the girls wanted to touch his hand. It was so cute. Even Emma warmed up to him!

Poopy Butt!

This is too funny not to blog, maybe a bit inappropriate, but too funny! Elle and Emma came home last week saying "poopy butt" from daycare. Honestly, saying the words together is quite funny. One would say it and the other would laugh hysterically.

But, I had to be an adult and put a stop to it. The last thing I wanted was to have a conference with their teacher about my girls saying "poopy butt" all the time. After having to look the other way and laugh, I told them that poopy butt was not a nice word, and they needed to say poopy heiney, which does not get the same laughs at our house. So we have been fighting this for a week and a half. If you spell it, they know what you are spelling, and proceed to say it. When I was scolding Elle the other day, and trying to correct her, Emma proceeded to repeat 6 times "you cannot say poopy butt sissy". The best was today at breakfast when I caught Emma saying it again, and I corrected her. She told me "It's ok mommy I was just singing it". She had a point. I had told her she could not say it, so singing it was a loophole. Emma might end up being a lawyer. Finding that kind of loophole at 2 is impressive!

Harvest Carnival Part I

We went to the Harvest Carnival tonight. It is part of the Homecoming Celebration here in Stillwater. The student groups put on a Carnival for the kids. They had tons of games and candy as prizes. Since Scott was gone, Uncle Wogan stepped in and helped! The girls were so excited to see him. They first went through a maze and never made it to the ball pit at the end. Emma was so traumatized, I had to hold her for about 10 minutes. They saw light and exited the maze ASAP! There were tons of fun things to do and see! The girls enjoyed the games, candy, and Uncle Wogan. They also saw their dance teacher Miss Meredith, and their friend Zaneypooh! I think Elle hugged Miss Meredith 3 times and Zaneypooh once. Emma limited herself to one hug a piece. The night ended with free cotton candy and frisbees, that the girls were sure were new plates! We ate it outside since it was about 80 degrees in the Expo Center at the Fairgrounds! The picture of Logan above making a face was when both girls tried to kiss him. I guess he was not interested in getting his first kisses from 2 year olds!

Tulsa Zoo

We went to the Tulsa Zoo on Friday since I had the day off. We made it into a girl's trip and brought Gram along too! The girls really enjoyed it! The highlights of the Zoo trip were seeing this big male jaguar really close and seeing the monkeys. The jaguar had a beautiful coat, and was so close through some really thick glass; and the monkeys were also very entertaining. There were two babies and they had a great time swinging on the ropes. One was hitting the glass as he was swinging, almost antagonizing the kids on the other side. He also jumped down and acted like he was giving the kids five through the glass. It was so neat!

Pull up my pants high like POPS!

So one of the girls' favorite past times is seeing how high they can pull up their pants. I really don't quite remember how it started. I'm sure it probably went something like "Emma or Elle, don't pull up your pants so high, you will look like Pops!" I wish I could blame it on Logan, but frankly he did not know about it until today, and he thought it was so funny, it should make the blog! For the record, when we were younger, Pops, or Ffilc, would wear these horrible green scrubs and cinch them up right under his armpits, well maybe not quite that high, but close. We used to always make fun of him, but probably not to his face until Nathan mastered that take down in Karate where he could flip dad.

Blue Bubble Gum

This is a video from last Monday's dance class. Emma had a bit of the funk, so she stayed home from daycare with her Grandma and Grandpa Mickey in the morning, and I relieved them after my last class. Emma was sure that she was feeling well enough to go to dance class. It is only her very favorite thing to do. I thought we would give it a try. She did great! When we walked in Elle was so happy to see her she ran up to her and gave her a big hug, then Madisyn, the other girl in her daycare class also gave her a hug. A few minutes later the boys from the class came through the gym from recess and all waved and said hi to Emma. She felt really special! Blue Bubble Gum is Emma's favorite song. You can see how happy they were to see each other in the video, I got one of the three times they hugged in class on video!
