Going to the Fair!

Ever since Elle saw the Oklahoma "great state of a fair" commercial on TV she has been asking to go. Last Friday, I left after my last class and picked up the girls before nap at daycare. We loaded up and went to Glencoe to take 5 of Scott's students to the State Fair. Glencoe FFA was scheduled to work Agtropolis from 5-10 pm on Friday night. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to take the girls to the Fair and try and use a 20% off coupon at Kohl's.

Elle made it very clear to me that the most important thing at the fair was the Ferris Wheel. So once we got there, we did the Agtorpolis exhibit. The kids can go around and look at animals, kind of like a petting zoo, and be a farmer for a day. They had to put on an apron, plant seeds, pick apples and pumpkins. Get eggs from the chickens (they were fake) and dig up potatoes. They then traded the goods for money that they could spend at a general store. The girls really enjoyed it.

After Agtropolis, we made our way to the overpriced rides. We did 4 spins on the Ferris Wheel and made our way to Kiddie Land. The girls had a great time!

We hit Kohl's at about 8 pm right when the fair was getting packed!

Tailgating Round 2.....Ding!

The girls and I went to campus again to take part in the pre-game festivities. We missed "the walk" this week, but we did make it in time to get a picture with Bullet.

On our walk back from the Alumni Center we saw lots of people we knew. We saw some of our neighbors, Scott's Aunt Shonda and Uncle Paul, and Uncle Logan and Casey! The girls were feeling pretty important. Especially Elle because everyone was commenting on her hat!

Cowboy Football!

Well the OSU Football season started off with a bang! We did not attend the game, although we did take part in the pre-game festivities! "The Walk" was started by Les Miles when he was the OSU Football coach 8 or so years ago. Two hours before the game the players and coaches walk from the Student Union to the Football Field. It is like a parade with Pistol Pete and the band. This is the first time we have seen it and it was crazy! You can see all of the people lining the street.

The girls are patiently waiting for the parade!

Cousins Heath, Dawn, Maddie, and Caleb were here for the holiday weekend and took part in some of the fun. We loaned Maddie an OSU outfit so she would fit in! The girls look so cute together, they almost look like sisters! I love this picture with stadium in the background.

Scott snapped this picture of me and the girls all in matching....ORANGE!

Payne County Fair

Last week the girls (and I) survived with very limited daddy time. He was at the Payne County Fair all week. He would want me to clarify that he was there for the animals not the carnival.

They set up the rides on Tuesday, and we had to drive by them a minimum of twice a day. The girls wanted to go on the rides so bad! By Saturday evening, I gave in and took them. It amazes me the number of people that go to the fair and spend a boat load of money. Each ride took one ticket and each ticket was $3 or you could buy 10 for $25 or a bracelet (unlimited) for $20. We opted for the 10 tickets and I bought one extra so I could go on the ferris wheel with them. The girls had a great time. They were a bit overwhelmed with all of the people and tighlty held my hand. But overall they had a great time complete with that "pink stuff" (cotton candy).
